New signs at playing fields

NEW signs are to be added to make a local sports facilities easier to find for visiting clubs.

Mayor of Craigavon Councillor Carla Lockhart has welcomed additional signage to indicate the location of the Gordon Playing Fields.

Councillor Lockhart said: “This was an issue raised by residents of the Mourneview area when out and about on my travels.

“I was informed that visiting teams to the Gordon Playing Fields struggled to locate it, and would often end up in the middle of the estate.

“I lobbied Craigavon Borough Council in this regard and I am delighted that they were able to work with Road Service to deliver this request.

“This will be of great benefit to the many visiting football teams to the club grounds. The Gordon Playing fields is a much used facility within the area and has been expanded greatly over the past number of years. These signs I believe will assist greatly in giving directions to people visiting the facility.”
