Jetskiers 'flash' children
A GROUP of jet skiers caused havoc in Kinnego Marina at the weekend with a witness saying one of the group 'flashed' parents and children.
The eye witness said the jet skiers were riding around Kinnego Bay - something which is prohibited under the council's regulations.
He said there were five or six of them and one of the group performed a turn in the marina causing a wave soaking children playing on the shoreline.
This, according to the witness, 'agitated' a group of parents who confronted the jet skiers.
"They had obviously been drinking and were messing around on the water and when they soaked all the children the parents went mad," he said.
"They just shouted at them and told them to be careful and then one of the guys on the jet ski just whipped off all his clothes and started dancing around - it was disgusting but he kept doing it.
"The parents were obviously angry but they didn't do anything, they were very restrained.
"It was shear madness, there were lots of people there and some of the children were about three years old."
The council said it took a 'zero tolerance' approach to the use of jet skis in the bay.
An individual has been barred after he was abusive to a member of the public and Kinnego staff following an incident over the weekend.
A spokeswoman said: "All boats and jet skis must be registered with Kinnego Marina before launching and those using the marina for the first time will be issued with their ‘Conditions of Use’.
"Jet skis are prohibited in the bay and according to the Conditions of Use set down by Kinnego, they can be launched at the marina but must operate north of the Kinnego Bay entrance unless towing waterskiers or rings.
"If anyone is caught flouting these conditions and riding a jet ski in the prohibited area the PSNI will be called and they will also be barred from the area.
"The individual who caused the incident at the weekend has subsequently been barred."
Police received a report that a number of people had been causing a nuisance at Kinnego Marina on Sunday around 8.20pm.
The men were said to have left the area before the report and no offences were detected according to a spokeswoman.
The men were said to have behaved in a 'rowdy' manner.
