A boost for the NSPCC

A clean-up by pupils of St Patrick’s Primary School in Derrymacash helped boost the bank balance of the NSPCC in 1986.

Principal, Mr Barry Fagan, agreed on a plan which would involve those willing to take on various household chores.

The price asked for each task was to be negotiated with their parents, aunts, uncles or grandparents and was not to exceed 20 pence per job completed.

The pupils raised £126 for this worthy cause through their efforts.

Several pupils excelled in their tasks.

Sisters Annette and Ann Marie O’Neill raised £15 while Angela Crossey collected nearly £6.
