Plastic fork used in hold up

TWO Craigavon men were charged with holding up a Lurgan shopkeeper with a plastic fork in January 1981.

The men were formally charged with two separate robberies on business premises on January 8 at a special court in the police station. They allegedly took jewellery worth 100 from a hairdressers on Edward Street, using a knife to threaten the owner.

In their second robbery of the day, the men used a plastic fork to remove a till and a charity stocking from another shop in Edward Street. The total value of the second haul was 1,205.

The two men were remanded to Belfast Court later in the month.
