AFTER a successful start for Mable-Cable, the Lurgan band hit a rough patch, with the recent loss of lead guitarist Conor "Ice-man" McCann, who left the band shortly after the band's last gig in o'Hagan's Bar to become a solo artist .
“I have to admit its a big setback for us, but we didn’t want to stand in Conor’s way and we wish him every success,” said lead singer Kieran Little.

Luckily the band have managed to find a replacement for Conor. Thomas Toland age 24 was approache
d by Kieran a few weeks ago, after Kieran heard him play. “I have experience playing traditional Irish music and so far I’m enjoying the transition into the alternative genre the band fit into, but I am going to try and bring some of my old style with me”, said Thomas.

The original band members have said the band is working well with the new member: “He is very committed and there are a lot of new ideas being brought forward”, said bass player Vaughan McCann.

The band have bookings from the end of October right up until the EP launch, which will be at the start of the New Year and is likely to be held in o’Hagan’s Bar.

It has been agreed that all of the songs that had been worked on before Conor left the band will be featured on the EP this is as they belong to the band and not to any single member.

After the live success of the band's song “Friday Afternoon”, which has been a local hit, they will be working on more of their own material, some of which will be ready for the up and coming gigs.
