THE popular pub quiz organised by Lurgan Round Table came to its finale in February 1987.
The Silverwood Hotel was packed for the final between a team from the Ashburn and a team from the Village Inn, Waringstown.
As quizmaster Barry Campbell rattled off the questions on a variety of subjects the teams were neck and neck.
The Village team was made up of Michael McGivern, Ronnie Hill, Brendan Harvey and Billy Stewart while the Ashburn line-up was Brendan McGeown, Donald McGeown, Jarlath Campbell and Joey McCann.
It was a close-run encounter but eventually the experience of the Ashburn team proved vital and they were crowned champions.
“The standard was very high indeed,”said quizmaster Barry Campbell.
And charity was also a winner with £550 being raised on the night.
