Busy season at Market Place

THE Market Place Theatre Armagh, has launched a new programme of events from January to June 2010 and will celebrate its tenth anniversary in March.

Comedian Conal Gallen will take to the stage in January along with drama from The Armagh Theatre Group who will stage Bernard Farrell's 'Happy Birthday Dear Alice'.

'Totally Take That' reunite with Robbie, for one night only. Romance your loved one on Valentine's weekend with 'A Night For Swingin' Lovers' with The PM Big Band.

With anniversary celebrations planned in March a celebration concert with The Ulster Orchestra will kickstart the party.

Frances Black will return to The Theatre in a double celebration on St Patrick's Day, whilst Liam Reilly & Bagatelle herald Easter Week. 'Memories Are Made Of Hits' is back by popular demand in April, and promises a nostalgic musical trip down Memory Lane.

Next year's May Bank Holiday Weekend Comedy Festival will welcome three of Ireland's leading comedians Ardal O'Hanlon, Colin Murphy and Kevin McAleer.

Football fans will be delighted with comedy drama 'Beating Berlusconi' based on the true life story of one Liverpool fan.

As the weather heats up, audiences can chill out with 'A Night At The Musicals' in June, and the season will round off with drama for the little ones as 'Goldilocks & The Three Bears' takes to the stage.

The theatre will also be presenting six visual art exhibitions in its main gallery and foyer areas featuring Liam O'Connor, Robert Jarvis, Lesley Yendell, a group exhibition, and two celebratory exhibitions, one featuring photographs documenting ten years of performances at the venue, and one showcasing the work of local artists who have exhibited at The Market Place since opening in 2000.

A range of workshops for young people include the Market Place Youth Theatre, Toddler Music and Movement classes, and a range of craft-based classes including Jewellery Making, Willow Sculpture, Customize A T-Shirt, Textile Artworks, Mosaic Mirrors, Easter Crafts and Magic Workshops.

Adult Workshops include Salsa For Beginners and Improvers, Wedding Crafts, Empower Your Life, Advanced Bead & Wire Jewellery Making, My Life Story, Floral Workshops, Creative Writing, Willow Sculpture, Vintage Chic Bags, Cushion Making, Textile Corsages, Introduction To Journalism, Glass Painting, and Chunky Summer Accessories.
