Malojian release debut

THE Deer’s Cry, the new album by Malojian aka Stevie Scullion is out now.

The album, released on Monday, is available now from http://malojian.bandcamp.com/

It comes beautifully packaged in a hand-stamped sleeve with a 12-page full-colour booklet.

The first run of CDs will be limited, numbered and will also include a three inch, blue, embroidered, Malojian patch.

It includes immediate download of 12-track album in your choice of MP3 320, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire.

Malojian will be playing Start Together Studios in Belfast on November 9, Kiwis in Portrush on November 9, The Bayview Hotel in Portballintrae on November 10, The Atlantic Bar in Portrush on November 23, Molly’s Parlour in Lisburn on February 1, the Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast on February 2, Banbridge Town Hall on February 23, Saint’s Cafe in Saintfield on July 5 before heading over the Atlantic to play Stanfest in Nova Scotia on July 6 and 7.

Stevie Scullion has been writing songs for many years now. His music has been likened to lots of other artists including Neil Young, The Band, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Grandaddy and Iron & Wine.

Having spent the last few years as the songwriter of acclaimed alt-folk act Cat Malojian, Stevie has been garnering a reputation as a songwriter of merit.

When Cat Malojian split in June 2010, Stevie could very easily have lost the plot. Instead he opted to “cut my hair and split my tree” and came back reinvigorated as simply Malojian.

Gary Lightbody is among the admirers. In Q magazine in March this year he said: “I’m completely obsessed with this gorgeous song by Malojian.

“It is achingly beautiful and there is the crackle and breath of a life being lived in its plaintive revolutions. This healed me a little bit. Please heal me more.”
