Brit nominees under scrutiny

THE unique sound of Brit Award nominees Alt-J has amassed a growing army of fans in the UK and in the US, the band has burst onto the music scene since the release of their hit album ‘An Awesome Wave’.

The album was so successful the band won the prestigious 2012 Mercury award previously won by such artists as PJ Harvey, Elbow and the XX.

‘An Awesome Wave’ has a unique feel and sound with a wide variety of instruments and sounds in the tracks, standout songs include ‘Breezeblocks’, ‘Matilda’ and ‘Something Good’ with all songs including personal and confessional lyrics.

The band have recently been nominated for three Brit Awards including British Breakthrough Act, British Group and the Mastercard Album of the Year.

Alt-J are growing in popularity however ‘An Awesome Wave’ is a required taste and may only appeal to a certain kind of audience. If you like the XX, Jessie Ware and Michael Kiwanuka you will probably like this band

Listening to this album is like willingly stepping into an unknown journey where you move through the album like a leaf flows along a stream.

Sticking a genre on this band is difficult as Alt-J have successfully created their own original style of music which makes them quite unique and their sound is like rebelling against mainstream pop hits and creating music the way they want.

You may not have heard of this band but if they produce music like in ‘An Awesome Wave’ you soon will.
