Urban Arts Academy

THE Urban Arts Academy is set to take over Belfast's Waterfront once again this summer with a range of innovative courses in the creative industries, taught by leading arts professionals.

Taking place from July 6 to 24 Urban Arts Academy (UAA) offers a unique and comprehensive range of vocational courses in music, design, performance and technical skills, giving students the chance to explore genuine career opportunities across a wide range of contemporary and creative arts disciplines.

Students gain practical experience during the course of the three weeks with assignment based work during 'trans' - the music and arts festival that runs alongside Urban Arts Academy.

This year UAA is offering courses in: Photography; Journalism; Graphic Design; Radio Production; Event Management; Live Percussion; Music Production (Electronic and Rock); DJing (Beginners and Advanced); Rock Music; Documentary Film Making; 3D Animation; Fashion Design; Game Design; Comic Book Illustration; Street Art; Aerosol Art; Free Running; Street Theatre and Urban Dance.

For the first time this year, UAA is introducing practical, two-day weekend courses. There will be beginner, taster sessions in Making A Video For Your Band, VJing, Stand-up Comedy, Garage Band and Alternative Reality Gaming as well as a Guitar Masterclass, Ableton Masterclass and Song-writing Masterclass for more advanced students.

Now in its fifth year, UAA continues to invest in new art forms, new technologies and new trends and plays a pivotal role in developing the creative talent of today's young people.

Urban students are equipped with the skills, insider knowledge and confidence to help them achieve their career goals, aspirations and dreams.
