Raymond’s play continues

AFTER playing to six capacity-filled audiences in the Belfast Waterfront, the Armagh Market Place Theatre and Lurgan Town Hall, Lurgan man Raymond Murray brings Down’s But Not Out to Portadown Town Hall on Saturday, October 27.

The play uses identical events set 50 years apart to demonstrate the changed attitudes to Down’s syndrome since the 1960s. Raymond, whose 14-year-old son Jack was born with Down’s syndrome, commented: “Obviously Jack was the initial inspiration for this work, but it was my awareness of the acting skill of Mark Blevins that convinced me that the project could actually be delivered.”

20-year-old Mark also has Down’s syndrome and is an experienced performer with many groups in the local area. Though the subject is a serious one, the play is most accurately labelled as comedy drama. Mark is joined on stage by many experienced players from Craigavon including Nikki O’Hara, Brendan Magee, Jonny McGuinness and Aaron Murphy.

Ticket are available from Winnie’s Newsagent, Mallon’s Butchers, Portadown Town Hall or by contacting Raymond Murray at 0789 432 1975 or rmurray204@btinternet.com.
