SPLASH Sure start celebrated its first birthday recently with a party.
The project based in the Legahory Centre offers free support, activities and advice to all families who are expecting a baby or have pre-school children living within the Drumgask, Drumgor, Taghnevan, Church, Court and Drumnamoe areas.
The team co
nsists of family supporters, health visitors, speech and language therapist, midwives, play development and creche workers.
A childminding coordinator is available to help provide and inform families about available services including emergency respite childcare.
It also operates a toy library.
There have been plenty of highlights over the first year with the wide range of activities that Splash Sure Start offers to local families with children under school age.
Over the summer several trips were organised for families that were registered with the project.
Despite the terrible weather several trips went ahead as planned and a few had to be changed for more sheltered venues, however, all were greatly enjoyed.
In August the group worked with St Anthony's Primary School and ran a special day called a Sure Start to school to help children and families make the transition to P1.
It proved to be a popular morning with children and parents and a lot of information and fun was shared by all attended.
If you live in the area and are not already registered with Splash Sure Start the group is offering the chance to register.
There will be lots of party fun with face painting, balloon modelling, music and dance and also a chance to make instruments and there is a magic show.
The events will take place in Lurgan Town Hall on Tuesday, October 7 from 10.30am to 12 and also at St Anthony's Hall in Legahory on Thursday, October 9 from 10am to noon.
