THIS Saturday head down to the new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) in Parkmore and enjoy a Family Fun Day packed full of activities for everyone to enjoy.
The MUGA – which was officially opened in June – was built to give the community a top class facility where they can enjoy a wide range of sports including tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer, rugby and hockey to name just a few.
Also, this fa
mily fun day will allow you to try out a variety of these sports and then give you the option to sign up a Sports Programme of your choice.
"The Family Fun Day will give taster sessions in tennis, volleyball, basketball and soccer and we hope everyone will give all the sports a go," explained Colleen Murray, MUGA Coordinator for Craigavon Borough Council.
"There will also be the chance to try out a bit of target golf, a sponge throw and face painting and refreshments will also be provided – all for free of course! This is a fantastic facility for the Parkmore Community and we hope that through this fun day we will help maximise the usage of the MUGA. It is also the launch of our Sports Programme so we hope to see plenty of people coming along and joining in the fun."
A structured programme of events will then begin on Monday, October 6 with tennis sessions from 7pm to 9pm, volleyball every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm, basketball every Saturday from 11am to 1pm and soccer every Sunday from 11am to 1pm.
The Sports Programme will last for 20 weeks and will incorporate around 10 different activities. All you have to do is sign up to take part.
"People can sign up to as many of the sessions as they want which will last around five weeks. After this we will decide with the participants the next activity they want to take part in for the next five weeks," added Daryn Greene, Community Sports Development Officer at Craigavon Borough Council.
"We look forward to seeing you all there getting involved in the free fun!"
