THE LURGAN fifth Girl Guides hosted a 1950s themed Soda Shop Hop at the Jethro Centre on Wednesday, April 16.
The Guide unit played host to St Oliver Plunkett Guides, who they first met 18 months ago and held at number of events together.

At the Jethro they offered themed food including hot dogs, ice cream floats and a chocolate fountain.

They also played a number of games including a dance off, prizes for the best outfit and name that tune - which the leaders did much better at than the girls.

Some of the girls claimed the leaders had a distinct age advantage in the competition.

The girls first met when both Guide units sang at a volunteer recognition event in the Seagoe Hotel where they both received great praise and recognition for their achievements.

Since then the girls have kept in close contact and each unit has hosted a number of very successful events including an Hawaiian luau and a Wild West night.

Many of the Guides have forged close friendships.

Leaders of the Lurgan fifth Girl Guides included: Karen Douglas, Elaine Porter and Sharon Scoby.

Leaders of the St Oliver Plunkett Guides included: Gerardette McVeigh and Edel Clinton.
