THE diggers re moving in to the harbour area at Lurgan Park to carry out resurfacing work.
Work will start the week beginning October 13.

As part of the Heritage Lottery Fund renovations of the Park, the tarmac at the Harbour area was stripped off with a new surface put down.

This has now started to bubble so, therefore, it needs replacing. The work will take about three weeks and will involve ground from the Brownlow Castle gates to the new play park so there will be a number of summer seats which will be out of use.

"We put tarmac down again and then an adhesive to finish the treatment off," explained Lurgan Park Development Manager Leanne McShane, "it all depends on weather conditions. If it is very wet we may well leave the adhesive until Spring and it has to be very dry for the adhesive to take. Obviously we have deliberately put the work off until the end of busy summer season to reduce any potential inconvenience."

Leanne's advice for people still wanting to feed the ducks and the swans is to use the path behind the play park where the Lake comes quite close to the edge with the wild life moving to wherever the food is.
