SECTARIAN posters placed in the phone boxes in Market Street have been described as pathetic.
They carry the slogan Pope Benedict XVI anti jew anti protestant no pope here! no surrender! [sic], along with two separate pictures of Pope Benedict, one of him in his youth and the other in his papal garb.

The posters appear to allude to Joseph Ratzinger’s involvement in the Hitler Youth in the 1940’s before he was elected Pope in 2005.

Councillor, Dolores Kelly said she was saddened by the posters: “This is very sinister and I will be asking the police to treat this as a hate crime. There appears to be a lot of orchestration involved in this sinister campaign."
