THE LVF has issued a chilling warning to those who attacked the plaque to Billy Wright in the Mourneview estate.
In a statement to the 'MAIL' the terror group warned those responsilble would be made to account for their actions.
They also said those responsible must "contemplate their own fate and motives".
The statement will no doubt fuel speculation of
a feud within loyalism - with the LVF seen as weakened in Mid-Ulster.
Indeed, according to some the LVF "are finished" and the people of Mourneview fed up with their activities.
However, the statement (given to the 'MAIL' on Tuesday) would seem to suggest the loyalist terror group hasn't gone away.
The statement said: "In response to the recent wanton destruction of the memorial plaque to to Brigadier Billy Wright the LVF state publically that we will not sit idly by while those who pose under the flag of loyalism hold our people to ransom.
"Those who wrongly chose to desecrate the memory of our beloved Brigadier Billy Wright are swift to forget the principles and ideology which led him to take a stand for the beliefs he ultimately gave his life for.
"Forget not the heroic stance taken by many who vanquished the murderous threat of violent republicanism in Mid-Ulster.
"We the LVF live on to ensure our Brigadier did not die in vain.
"Those who chose to spit on the memory of a loyal son of Ulster must be made account for their actions.
"The LVF is not answerable to any para-mafia QUANGO and will not let this unpardonable sin stand.
"Those responsible for this act must contemplate their own fate and question their own motives.
"In the words of Brigadier Billy Wright ask yourselves why you are doing it."
