A LOCAL farmer has linked flooding in Knockramer and Silverwood to the state of the much-maligned River Closet.
Damien Mullholland said: "So long as the Closet stays in the state that it's in this will be a continuous problem."

The 'MAIL' has reported many times in recent months on the build up of sewage in the River Closet.

According to Damien the Halfpenny River which burst its banks and flooded the surrounding housing developments on Saturday flows into the River Closet.

"Because the Closet is blocked the Halfpenny level is raised."

Damien, along with other farmers, helped out in the housing developments at Knockramer and Silverwood from 4pm to 10.30pm as best they could using tankers to pump out the water.
