UPPER Bann MP David Simpson has described as 'totally unbelievable' a statement from Security Minister Paul Goggins that there is no central record of which crimes sexual offenders residing in Northern Ireland were guilty of.
Speaking after the government Minister stated that nowhere was there any record of the offences committed by released sex offenders living in any of Northern Ireland Police Districts David Simpson said:
“This statement from the Minister can only be described as totally unbelievable. It defies credibility. Are we really to believe that a sex offender can be released, that he or she can be tracked by the authorities to wherever they happen to reside, that they can be classified as category 1, 2 or 3 depending on the level of risk they pose to the community, that the local Police Commander is aware of that classification, but that nobody knows and keeps a record of what the offences committed by people were that resulted in their conviction and subsequent classification? It is utterly preposterous.”
Several week's ago the 'MAIL' revealed there were 39 sex offenders living in the Craigavon District Command area.
