LURGAN'S schools are facing a repair bill of almost £11 million and there's not enough money to fix them.
According to figures from the power-sharing Executive there is now a £217 million backlog of improvement work at schools across the province which is being blamed on budget cuts.

Planned maintenance at buildings and grounds has been shelved due to the cash crisis.

Education Minister Caitriona Ruane has provided a school by school breakdown of the backlog in response to an Assembly question by the SDLP.

According to those figures the total high priority maintenance backlog for schools in the Lurgan and Brownlow area comes to £10,865,133.

Three schools are facing bills over £1 million, including Lismore (£1,804,029); Lurgan Junior High (£1,166,950) and St Francis' Primary School (£1,089,265).

Schools coming close to the million are: King's Park PS (£841,940); Tannaghmore PS (£731,455); St Mary's High School (£764,010), Craigavon Senior High (£943,935) and Lurgan College (£949, 875).
