PENSIONER Sandra Rutherford, who has a heart condition, feared for her safety on Saturday.
She was forced to leave her Carrick Drive home after it was submerged in four inches of water.

Her carpets, some only a few months old, were all destroyed.

Sandra's front garden was completely underwater and sewage water bubbled up from her drains.

"I'd never seen rain like it. I could see the water rising above the garden and I thought I may get out of here or I may never get out.

"I can't live with these carpets. They're wet, stinking and will have to be thrown out. Nobody expected it to last as long," she said.

Sandra had to stay with a friend as she couldn't get any help until Monday due to the agency offices being closed.

The Housing Executive brought de-humidifiers late on Monday afternoon to help dry her house out.
