SATURDAY'S torrential downpour brought further flooding misery to Lurgan with problems reported across the town.
Flooding was reported at Soye Crescente and Soye Garden,s Ben Crom, Pollock Drive, Lake Street, Shankill, Silverwood and the Kilmore Road.
Reader feedback see comment) has also brought to our attention problems at the Garrymore area.
It followed on from a week of misery in which a number of homes were affected by flooding.
Saturday's rain was even worse with flooding hitting wide areas across the town.
According to reports Pollock Drive was impassable on Saturday as the rain came down.
Local councillors were kept busy as the waters rose, many were out not only offering advice to residents but also practical help with sandbags to keep the waters at bay.
At Garrymore three homes were extensively damaged by flooding and a reader commented: I was reading the online edition there and I noticed that the only areas affected by the flood that were reported were in Lurgan itself. I just wanted to let you know that three houses in Garrymore were also badly affected. They have been extensively damaged by the flooding on Saturday.
"The police were the only service to respond and offer assistance along with a neighbour who had access to pumping equipment. The Roads and Water services refused to respond and were abusive to several different people who called from, and on behalf of, the affected houses and their occupants. As far as I am aware, these are the only houses in this area to have been affected."
If you were affected by flooding the 'MAIL' wants to know – contact us on 3832 7777 or e-mail clint.aiken@lurganmail.co.uk
We would be particularly interested in your pictures of the flooding as it happened – again e-mail us at clint.aiken@lurganmail.co.uk or call 3832 7777.
See this Thursday's 'MAIL' for a full report on the deluge.
