RESIDENTS at Ennis Tarry have some unwanted neighbours.
Teenagers have turned the green area beside the Kilwilke homes into a 24-hour drinking den - some of them even camping overnight at weekends.
“They put a tent up and camped over on Saturday night,” said Geraldine Crossey, an Ennis Tarry resident.
“The week before a blue car parked right up against the fence.”
She went on: “It was the same day as Lurgan show. There must have been more activity in that field than at Lurgan Show - the music was blaring.
“I couldn’t hear the TV or the radio. They came down here with boxes of Tennent’s - reaching them over the fence to each other.
“There were wee girls - I’m talking kids - following them about, sitting watching them drinking.”
Geraldine continued: “There’s talk the Housing Executive are going to build houses there. The sooner the better. “The people living in the houses can’t be anywhere near as bad as this.”
She added: “There’s a couple of proper parks nearby - why can’t they go there?”
Ennis Tarry has been featured in the ‘MAIL’ in a number of stories about antisocial behaviour.
Earlier this year hoods set fire to a rubber mat against the side of a house and last year the ‘MAIL’ reported how a car was burnt out on a green in the middle of the estate.
The Housing Executive confirmed the area has been identified as a potential site for the provision of Social Housing.
A spokesperson said: “The Housing Executive is aware of the problems of anti-social behaviour in the area. This is totally unacceptable, especially where many elderly people live nearby.
“We will continue talk to community groups and the PSNI in an effort to resolve these problems.”
