GLADYS McCullough was welcomed onto the council at Monday's mid-monthly meeting.
A former councillor she replaced MP David Simpson in the chamber.

Alderman Sydney Anderson, who chaired the meeting, said: "Gladys is a former councillor and will be glad to hear the late nights she may remember of her last time on the council have been done away with.

"I welcome her to the council and look forward to working alongside her."

Alderman Anderson also condemned the violence in Lurgan over the Twelfth.

Youths tried to hijack the Enterprise train at the Lake Street crossing and a small amount of violence erupted.

Mr Anderson added: "The violence brings nothing but shame to the borough and that particular incident could have been much worse than it was.

"I would appeal to the community to report those responsible to the PSNI."
