Plans have been submitted for two new restaurants at Rushmere Shopping Centre.

The proposals also include a number of new car
parking spaces.

The plans were lodged last month by Central Craigavon, the company which owns the shopping centre.

The new restaurants, known as units 44 and 45, would be side by side. Unit 44 measures more than 4,120 sq ft and includes a mezzanine (intermediate) floor and an outdoor terrace along two sides, with a canopy.

Unit 45 is more than 5,134 sq ft and also has a mezzanine floor, as well as a terrace and canopy along one side.

According to the plans, 20 car parking spaces will be lost but 27 new ones added, making a total gain of seven spaces.

Landscaping will also be included.

It is not known if the units have already been let to tenants, and Rushmere did not want to comment at
this stage.

Cafes/restaurants in the centre include Costa, Starbucks, O’Briens, McDonalds, Number 7, Squires and
Sainsbury’s.

Number 7 , one of the original restaurants in Rushmere Shopping Centre, has undergone a recent refurbishment.

It has been revamped as an American-style diner and is now licensed to sell alcohol.

Meanwhile, four new food outlets have already been let at the nearby Highfield site of the Omniplex Cinema, which is due to open its doors on March 25.

Omniplex owner Paul Anderson said he is unable to reveal the identity of the tenants at this stage.
