The Housing Executive is urging homeowners in Lurgan to apply now for assistance to replace their boiler through the Boiler Replacement Scheme.
Administered by the Housing Executive, DSD’s scheme will finish at the end of March 2015.
Malcolm McKeown, the Housing Executive grants manager, explained: “The DSD’s Boiler Replacement scheme has been very successful, helping over 410 homeowners in 2013-14 in Craigavon replace inefficient boilers and providing those households with increased fuel efficiency.
“In the south area we have helped 3,168 households to date whilst across Northern Ireland over 15,800 homeowners have benefitted. The scheme offers owner occupiers a grant of up to £1,000 to replace inefficient boilers and is available to those who earn less than £40,000 a year with an inefficient boiler of at least 15 years and is dependent on total gross income.
“Replacing an old inefficient boiler with a new condensing boiler can, in an average three bedroom semi-detached house, see potential savings of between £300 to £350 per year. In these difficult financial times, savings such as this can make a real difference to the lives of those who the scheme is targeted at.
“Homeowners who think they are eligible should call the Housing Executive on 03448 920 900 or register by email at email@example.com or www.nihe.gov.uk
