After an argument with her boyfriend a Lurgan woman grabbed the car keys and drove off although she was not covered by insurance.

Twenty-four-year-old Danielle Seeley, Ashdene Park, Lurgan, was fined £200 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without insurance.

She was also banned from driving for six months and fined £40 for not having a licence. The offences came to light when she was stopped on the Old Portadown Road on April 19.

Mr Pat Vernon, representing the defendant, said that on the night in question Seeley, who was pregnant at the time, was at her boyfriend’s parents’ home.

He added that she had an argument with her boyfriend, grabbed the car keys and stormed out of the house.

Mr Vernon explained that Seeley would say her head was ‘all over the place’ at the time and it was a spur of the moment thing.

District Judge Mrs Bernie Kelly, indicated that if the defendant had her full licence, both parts of it, in court she would have considered imposing points.
