Body find referred to Police Ombudsman

THE Police Ombudsman is investigating the circumstances leading up to the discovery of a man’s body on the outskirts of Ballymena on Tuesday morning.

The 33-year-old’s body was found on the Tullynamullan Road by police after he was reported missing on Sunday.

A police spokesman said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Specialist resources including the police helicopter were tasked to take part in the search.

Police also confirmed that they had received a report of an abandoned car on the Tullynamullan Road last Thursday, February 7 and that attempts were made to locate the owner at the address detailed on registration documentation. The vehicle was subsequently recovered by police.

Police said the incident has been referred to the Ombudsman.
