Fresh from the success of West Side Story, Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society has now opened its doors for new members to come along and join the leading musical theatre drama society in Co Armagh.

Mads! drama facilitator Kieran Corr, explained: “The society is still on a high after the success of West Side Story. This show was a big challenge for everyone and we’re delighted that the cast and orchestra put on a top class show for the people of Craigavon.

“Our doors are now open for new members to join and old members to return. If you are interested in acting, singing and dancing and want to meet new friends and perform on stage then we’re the society to join.”

The Society meets every Saturday at their unit in Moyraverty, close to St Brendan’s Primary School. From 9.30am to 11.30am the focus is on the junior section which is for boys and girls in nursery school up to year 8 in secondary school.

The teenage section caters for anyone in year 9 in secondary school up to 19 years old, it meets 11.30am to 1.30pm.

“It is our intention to produce a show for each age group,” said Kieran. “We also will be performing Rock of Ages in The Market Place Theatre, Armagh in April of next year and this is for anyone aged 16 and over. We will be performing a big band concert and we have the copyrights to perform Legally Blonde The Musical in September of 2017.”

The society will also be hosting an u12 Princess and Super Hero fancy dress Disco this Saturday (September 19) in Lurgan Town Hall from 2pm to 4pm.

Admission is £4 and this is open to anyone. Parents/Guardians free.

The u12 Disco is a perfect opportunity for young people to dress up and come and enjoy themselves.

They will have free face painting, spot prizes, fun and games and any child who is having a birthday this weekend is more than welcome to come along and celebrate at the Disco.

This should be a fun afternoon and they’re looking forward to seeing so many young people dressed up as a princess or superhero.
