Bleary & District Pipe Band is celebrating after winning major trophies at the Mid-Ulster and UK Championships earlier this month.

Bleary & District Pipe Band won the Grade One first place trophy at the Mid-Ulster Pipe Band and Drum Major Championships at Cookstown on Saturday 6 June.

They struck gold again just one week later, when they were awarded the Grade 2 UK Champion trophy at the UK Pipe Band & Drum Major Championships.

The UK Championships were held on Saturday 13 June in the Northern Ireland Civil Service Sports Grounds in Belfast’s Stormont Estate and hosted by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association in partnership with Belfast City Council. The event saw some 100 of the best pipe bands, and 45 of the best drum majors and highland dancers from across the UK and Ireland compete throughout the day, hoping to be crowned UK Champions.

The Chieftain of the Gathering was the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Guy Spence, who also presented the prizes.
