The decision to close the care home on Monree Road is a real blow to Donaghcloney, a local MLA has said.
Stephen Moutray MLA said, “This is a real blow to the local Donaghcloney area. This is a worrying time for all concerned and it is imperative that we do all we can to allay fears and assist in the process.
“I have spoken with management and have been assured that there will be in depth discussions with residents and their families and a working together with the Trust to ensure that all residents are accommodated following the official closure.
“This is a private provider and unfortunately it is a business decision that will have plunged many into a frenzy regarding work and a stable home environment for their loved ones. However, I am assured that the Minister Simon Hamilton will be working on this matter with the Trust to to minimise disruption to those in their later years of life.”
Councillor Mark Baxter said, “This is a worrying time for many local families.
“It is imperative that everything that can be done by the Trust will be to ensure that those who are living in the care home are accommodated and transfer happens in a seamless and in the least traumatic way possible.
“As a local resident I know full well the value and worth of this residential care home.”
