People have been missing out for a variety of reasons - it could be that you don’t think you’re eligible, feel you’ve enough to get by on or a recent change in your circumstances means you are now entitled to help.

You may be caring for someone - a relative, a friend or a neighbour who needs support because of btheir age, illness or disability.

You may be ill yourself, injured or living with a disability.

Older people, working adults and families may also be entitled to benefits, support or services.

One example of people who benefited from ‘Making the Call’ is a couple in their 80s who both have some health problems and care for one another. They were struggling to pay their household bills.

They were already receiving a number of benefits including Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance and didn’t think they would be entitled to more.

Thanks to an assessment by a Benefit Adviser the husband’s Pension Credit increased by £190.60 a nweek and he now receives £81.30 a week in Attendance Allowance.

The couple were also entitled tom Carer’s Allowance for looking after each other. By making that one phone call, an extra £271.90 every week is going into their household.
