JO-ANNE Dobson, the UUP Agriculture spokesperson and local MLA, who attended the show said: “This was a very special year and an historic milestone for the Lurgan Show. Reaching one hundred successful years is an achievement which should not go unmarked and the organisers of the Show have certainly pulled out all the stops to ensure that this year was even bigger and better. A fitting tribute to all those who have taken part in the Show since it began in 1912.”
Mrs Dobson praised the show as a “fantastic example of a locally organised and managed agricultural show which attracts so many people from across Northern Ireland, and further afield to Lurgan. It is occupies a prime position in the agricultural show calendar.
“The fact that so many people, both young and old, are taking part in the activities as well as competing in the livestock events proves that every year the Lurgan Show goes from strength to strength.
“I know that everyone is looking forward to the show next year! It will certainly be a challenge for them to top this year.”
