More than 20 jobs are being created at Rushmere shopping centre after it secured investment from three new retail brands.

The fast-growing centre said leading UK shoe retailer Pavers was creating at least 12 new positions as part of its expansion in Northern Ireland, while established fashion brands Jack & Jones and Moss Bros were adding an additional nine staff at new concessions within the Menarys department store.

Rushmere Shopping Centre currently employs more than 1,000 staff.

Centre Manager Martin Walsh said: “The arrival of these three new retailers to Rushmere underpins our commitment to providing a strong mix of quality and value brands which will support our continued growth; and will reinforce the positive impact we can make to the local economy.

“This latest investment demonstrates confidence by some of the UK’s leading brands in Northern Ireland and in Rushmere as an attractive, well-located shopping destination. Combined with a continued improvement in footfall figures, we also view this announcement as a further sign that the recovery in the local economy is going well.”

The 28-acre centre and retail park, which celebrates its 38th anniversary this year, has proved a huge success since opening in 1976, with visitors attracted from across Northern Ireland
and beyond.
