The bespoke, industry-focused training programme was designed to meet the increasing demand for highly skilled engineers working within the manufacturing engineering sector and equip them with the latest skills base to increase efficiency. The course upskilled eight engineers from mechanical to electrical engineering and electrical to mechanical engineering.

SERC Principal and Chief Executive Ken Webb explains: “This collaboration illustrates SERC’s commitment to deliver bespoke training and our dedication to supporting the manufacturing industry. SERC work with a wide range of manufacturers so we understand their challenges to innovate quickly, practice lean operations and drive costs down.

“Companies like Huhtamaki and Glanbia PLC demand specialist training programmes to meet their specific needs and we have the expertise and flexibility to deliver this.”

SERC Industrial Development Engineer Brendan Merrigan explains: “With the emergence and adoption of more sophisticated manufacturing technologies, engineers must keep abreast of the latest technologies so that they remain relevant in their jobs and advance in their careers. I hope other companies will follow this example and invest in upskilling their staff so they are in a strong position to take advantage of future opportunities in the sector.
