At the meeting the local MP heard how two firms locally could fill 100 full time driving jobs but simply could not get the staff.

The Upper Bann MP said, “I have had several meetings with the UK Government around the shortage and how we can address it. Following on from these meetings I was pleased to hear the Government announce support for HGV training. However this still will not address the immediate crisis that we are facing. Without road haulage NI faces a standstill, our rail networks are not designed for the majority of freight that we rely on this industry for.”
