Rushmere has best week on record

RUSHMERE Shopping Centre celebrated its busiest week on record in the run-up to Christmas.

The shopping centre said the wide choice and excellent value on offer at its fully-let complex in Craigavon tempted Christmas shoppers out in even greater numbers this year.

Centre manager, Martin Walsh, said figures for the full week starting Monday, December 17 were the centre’s best on record and that for December as a whole, footfall was up four per cent on a year ago.

He said: “Despite the challenging economic conditions, Rushmere has registered strong growth in footfall and spend throughout 2012, outperforming overall retail trends for Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

“Rushmere Shopping Centre has performed exceptionally well and we’re delighted to have welcomed even more shoppers than ever before, particularly over Christmas 2012.

“Importantly, many of our retailers are also reporting robust sales in the run-up to Christmas, including Dunnes Stores, which has just recorded its best week ever. We have also learned that the Rushmere branch of Monsoon/Accessorize is the company’s best-performing outlet in terms of sales.

“Rushmere Shopping Centre has a great retail offering in a very convenient location and for the coming year we look forward to building on the strong growth achieved in 2012.”
