Sand people scoop major trade award

The Derryadd-based Norman Emerson Group picked up the best trade stand award at the recent GLAS Ireland exhibition which took place at the Citywest Event Centre in Dublin.

GLAS Ireland, which is supported by Bord Bia (the Irish Food Board) in the Republic of Ireland, is recognised as a major event in the horticulture trade calendar attracting exhibitors and visitors from all over Europe, the UK and Ireland.

The Norman Emerson Group displayed its range of natural stone and sand products, which are widely used in landscaping works and sports ground construction throughout Ireland, and indeed, further afield.

“We are absolutely delighted to win this award,” said Norman Emerson Group Sales and Marketing Director, Kenny Crooks.

“GLAS Ireland is a major showcase in our industry sector and to be acknowledged in this way with more than 100 companies exhibiting at the event is a great honour.”

The Norman Emerson Group was founded in 1945 by Norman Emerson Senior. With over half a century of commercial experience across the island of Ireland the business has developed core competencies in the production and supply of materials and services to the construction industry, horticultural and sport sectors, and natural stone and landscaping businesses.

Firmly rooted in the water based extraction of Lough Neagh Sands the business evolved to develop extraction of hard rock quarries, gravel pits and the production of ready mixed concrete. A range of sands have been developed from the core sand extraction function to supply a growth market for sports sands used as an important component for playing pitches, golf courses and horse ménages. Later development brought the introduction of a dedicated concrete laying contracts division, a specialised decorative aggregate division focused on the hard landscaping sector and the development of industrialised dried sand for a variety of valued added end uses.
