LURGAN Carers are celebrating the award of Big Lottery Funding for an innovative new project called Time For Me.

The Time for Me project aims to develop leisure, respite and information activities for carers in the Craigavon area.

The project will include a health and well-being programme rolled out at monthly meetings which will include a range of activities with key speakers addressing a range of topics relevant to the needs of carers.

Development worker April Hamilton said: “We would welcome new members to come along and enjoy our varied programme of events as well as meeting new people over a cup of tea and sharing our experiences.”

In addition, the Time for Me project will provide a number of scheduled outings for carers throughout the year. The first trip was held last month when carers visited a number of retail outlets in Belfast.

Assistant development worker Jean Archer said: “The days away are a great opportunity to relax, meet new friends, and take a short break from caring commitments.”

Formed in 1991, Lurgan Carers Association (LCA) is an independent charity based in Lurgan, which delivers a range of services to carers in the area.
