James (Jim) Allen is deeply mourned by family and friends after his sudden passing on October 23.

James was a loyal member of Lurgan Rugby Football and Cricket Club for decades, fulfilling a variety of roles including player, coach and President and ‘gave his very best in all’. He was instrumental in setting up and organising the Rugby Taverners and was the club’s representative at the Ulster Branch for many years. He also enjoyed a senior rugby career with the Civil Service.

A statement from the club said that it had ‘lost one of its legends’. James is survived by his wife Margaret, and son Paddy.

A service of thanksgiving is to be held at noon on Wednesday in St John’s Parish Church, Moira, with donations going to N.I. Chest Heart and Stroke Association, c/o Malcomsons Funeral Service.
