Competition for the best recycler still going strong

Craigavon Borough Council’s Recycler of the month competition is still going strong.

£50 is up for grabs every month for the borough’s best ‘recycling’ resident!

The council’s recycling inspectors will be out and about reviewing the green bins on a different bin route each month and those residents with ‘perfect bins’ with only recyclable material included will be entered into the competition. The recycler of the month will be randomly selected at the end of each month and issued the prize - a great bonus before Christmas or to kick off the New Year.

As part of the European Waste Reduction Week, November 16 to 23, Craigavon Borough Council will be carrying out their annual bag for life giveaway.

Residents throughout the borough will be able to ‘grab’ one of the 400 bags on offer at the Newline Household Recycling Centre, Lurgan on Thursday, November 21, from 10am on a first come, first served basis.

Award winning local TV chef, Danny Millar will be working his culinary magic at Brownlow Community Hub on Wednesday, November 20, creating some fabulous recipes with a range of leftover food.

This tasty food event has been organised by Craigavon Borough Council’s Environmental Department in support of the national Love Food Hate Waste campaign, the main theme of this year’s European Week for Waste Reduction, promoting awareness of the simple to reduce food waste.

You can also bring the ‘Good Life’ to your home with a workshop to show you how to grow your own vegetables or make your own compost at Newline Household Recycling Centre on Monday, November 18.
