Claimed case was affecting his health

Have your say

A 42 year old man claimed last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court that the case against him has been affecting his health.

David Thomas Page, Innes Centre, Ventry Lane, Belfast, appeared by way of videolink from Maghaberry prison.

The first charge against him alleges that on May 7 at Albert Street, Lurgan, being the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order he had contact with a child under the age of 16 without the prior approval of his Designated Risk Manager.

He is also charged with intentionally touching a female child and abducting the child.

Last Friday the prosecution asked for a further adjournment because the case was not ready yet to set a date for a preliminary enquiry.

A barrister for Page said they hoped a PE date could be fixed soon because the defendant was anxious to have the matter expedited.

Page then spoke over the videolink asking if he could say something for a second.

He claimed the matter was having a bad effect on his health and he had to be taken to hospital with severe chest pains.

He tried to continue to talk about the case but the judge said that was a matter for another day.
