DETECTIVES from the Serious Crime Branch investigating dissident terrorist activity have uncovered guns and ammunition in Craigavon.

The weapons and other items had been hidden on waste ground in the Pinebank area.

A PSNI spokesperson said the find was made close to Tullygally Primary School.

A number of suspected firearms, a quantity of ammunition and other items were uncovered.

They have been taken away for further examination, said the PSNI.

Craigavon Area Commander, Chief Inspector Anthony McNally said: “The local community have asked us to help make their neighbourhoods safer and this is what we are doing. We will continue to work with our colleagues across the Service to tackle dissident activity and ensure that Craigavon is a safe place for all who live, work and socialise here.”
