Man returns to court for wielding axe

A 33 year old man has been returned for trial to Craigavon Crown Court on a series of charges, including having an axe with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, assaults and criminal damage.

Emil Sebastian Kobzda, Rectory Park, Portadown, appeared last Friday at a preliminary enquiry at Craigavon courthouse.

Five offences are alleged to have happened on January 23 last year. They are common assault on a female, criminal damage to a mobile phone, common assault on a male, making a threat to kill a male and possession of an axe with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

He is further charged that, between April 1, 2015, and April 26, 2015, he assaulted the same female and unlawfully damaged a bedroom belonging to her.

Kobzda faces five further charges which are alleged to have happened on April 27 last year. They are entering a house at Meadowbrook in Craigavon with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on the same male, assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the same female, possession of a knife with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, making to the male a threat to kill him, and unlawful damage to a laptop and a chair. Kobzda was remanded on bail to appear for arraignment at Craigavon Crown Court on January 26.
