A Magheralin man who shouted ‘PSNI, Sinn Fein/IRA You’re a disgrace’ to officers in Lurgan has been fined £250 at Craigavon Court.

Peter James White from Damhill Road pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on September 15 this year.

The court heard the 24 year old had been seen by police waving his arms and dancing on the road, shouting obscenities at around 1.30am in Lurgan’s Market St.

When police tried to stop him, he became arguementative, the court was told.

One of the defendant’s friends intervened and told him to ‘wise up’, the court heard.

However White shouted: “You are not in a proper uniform. PSNI SF/IRA You are a disgrace’.

White’s defence solicitor said he had far too much to drink and that there had been another incident and he had felt wrongly to blame.

Judge Mervyn Bates said: “The language used was very offensive.”
