Police arrest woman for drink driving after car smashes through fence

Police officers in Craigavon say it's only by 'sheer fortune' that someone wasn't killed when a drink driver lost control, mounted a footpath and smashed through a fence in Dollingstown.

Details of the incident, along with a picture of the damage caused by the driver, were posted on the PSNI Craigavon Facebook page this morning.

“Sadly it’s been another weekend of multiple drink drivers. This one tried to go over the Dollingstown roundabout on Friday night/ early hours of Saturday morning and took out a considerable amount of fence,” the post said.

“By sheer fortune we’re not talking about a fatality. If a dog walker or even child had been there they wouldn’t have stood a chance.

“The driver blew nearly three times the limit at the roadside and was arrested. We’re now awaiting blood test results to get an exact reading.

“If convicted she’ll lose her licence. She can be thankful it’s not a death by dangerous driving charge.”

The post goes on to pose the question: “When will people learn?”

“You see things like this yet some people wonder why it’s so infuriating that people advertise the location of check points! Never EVER drink and drive.”
