POLICE in Craigavon are reminding householders to take steps to protect their property following an attempted creeper burglary in the Larkfield Meadows area.

Around 12.10am on Friday, January 27, the occupants of a house heard a noise and discovered a man in their hall with their car keys in his hands. The man dropped the keys and made off.

He is described as being approximately 6ft tall with short, dark hair and was wearing a dark jacket.

Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

Police are also reminding householders to ensure their home is secure at all times.

Crime Prevention Officer, Michelle Wilson, advised: “Checking locks on all doors and windows should be second nature, whether you are at home or away.

“Don’t leave valuables lying about unattended. Put them away in a drawer or somewhere out of sight and consider fitting a good alarm system, CCTV and safe for precious items such as jewellery, chequebooks or credit cards.”

“Make sure that all external doors have good locks that meet BSI standards and if your windows have locks, use them when you are out.

“If you are spending time out in the back garden make sure no one can access your home from the front.

“You know your neighbourhood well and we would advise all residents to be alert to suspicious activity. If you notice anything which appears out of place contact police straight away on 0845 600 8000.”
