A young Lurgan girl is amassing thousands of followers on social media for all the right reasons.

The singing talent of 15-year-old Emma Horan is plain for all to see, with her latest video, a cover of Mumford & Sons’ Little Lion Man, filmed in Brownlow House by BNL Productions generating over 4,500 likes and 450 shares on Facebook.

The song itself, available for download via iTunes has reached number three in the singer/songwriter chart, ahead of the likes of Jake Bugg, Ed Sheeran and Tracey Chapman.

“I don’t think it’s hit me yet,” said Emma.

The former Lurgan Junior High School pupil, now in her first year at Lurgan College, developed a love of music thanks to her guitar-playing older brother and music-savvy older sister.

Emma soaked it all up before getting on stage herself at a Stars In Your Eyes event in Portrush which she won thanks to a cover of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

She’s performed in numerous dance and music festival and is currently studying for a diploma in musical theatre.

One of Emma’s self-filmed Facebook song mash ups ended up with her being discovered by X-Factor’s Giles Potter. He messaged her asking if she’d do a duet with him at a forthcoming show in Belfast. Emma duly obliged and her association with Giles led to even greater exposure on social media.

Her Facebook page is now followed by over 52,000 people and she has close to 3,000 followers on Twitter.

She’ll be playing with Giles again in The Oh Yeah Centre on July 5.

You’ll find her on Facebook and Twitter and she’s also appearing in a new series by BNL Productions on YouTube entitled The Gifted.

Emma cites her favourite artists as Ellie Goulding, Beyonce and Drake.

Of her career goal she said: “I just want to sing and see where it takes me. I love being on stage. I’m not nervous. I enjoy being up there and making eye contact with the crowd.”
