613 fines for dog fouling and littering

Craigavon Council issued 90 Fixed Penalty Notices for litter and dog fouling across the borough during February, it has been revealed.

And the final total for the period 2013/14 was 613 Fixed Penalty Notices.

According to the council minutes: “During February one of the wardens was on long term sick leave for the entire month and another was on short term sick leave for one week.“

The Environmental Services department have five environmental wardens employed since the appointment of a part time warden. The part time warden works 18.5 hours p/w contract and will be working on Friday, Saturday and Mondays to provide additional cover at the busiest part of the week.
