Work to improve North Street within the Lurgan Public Realm Scheme is set to start in the new year.
Preparatory work for extending the scheme into North Street is at an advanced stage, according to Sinn Fein Cllr Noel McGeown. The work will take 10 weeks to complete.
He acknowledged the works would cause some disruption and he called for the public and the local traders to work with the Council’s Development Department and the contractors in order to minimise disruption.
“Council will inform local residents and business people of the plans for the area and the proposed timetable. It is also intended to arrange a meeting with local business people in order to hear their particular concerns over issues that may arise. Through this meeting it is hoped to agree on proposals for working arrangements which are suitable to both businesses and contractors.”
